Luisa Geiselsoder Injury Update: Dallas Wings’ Rookie Center Sidelined for Remainder of 2025 Season With Shoulder Injury

Luisa Geiselsoder averaged 6.9 points and 4.8 rebounds across 28 appearances for the Wings.

The Dallas Wings’ who are set to wrap their 2025 WNBA season in nine days, have been once again hit by the injury bug. They lost their rookie center Luisa Geiselsoder for the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury. She was injured during the Wings’ 101-95 loss to the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday, August 27. The injury kept her out of the Wings’ next two games, against the Atlanta Dream and the Minnesota Lynx.

According to the official announcement by the Wings, the rookie center will be out for their remaining games of the season. They also announced that Geiselsoder is expected to make full recovery, and further updates will be shared regarding her injury in due time. Notably, the German center made 28 appearances for the Wings in her rookie season, averaging 6.9 points and 4.8 rebounds. The 6-foot-4 center was shooting 42.5% field goals, 33.0% from beyond the arc and 81.8% from the free-throw line.

She also led the Wings in rebounding six times and is fourth among rookies in rebounding and second in blocks. In addition to it, Geiselsoder is also one of the three rookies to rank in top nine in steals, blocks, field goal percentage, and rebounds.

Dallas Wings’ Injury Struggles in 2025 WNBA Season

The Wings, who failed to secure a playoff berth for the second straight year, have had an injury plagued season. Apart from Gieselsoder, JJ Quinerly, and Li Yueru have been sidelined for the rest of the season due to ACL sprains. Tyasha Harris is also out since undergoing left knee surgery.

Apart from them, Arike Ogunbowale is out indefinitely with right knee tendonitis. Amid their struggling season, the Wings have been left with an undersized group where Myisha Hines-Allen is expected to start at center. During Monday-night clash against the Lynx, only eight of their players suited up, including two signed on hardship contracts.

Wings Sign Ajae Petty to Seven-Day Hardship Contract

Following Geiselsoder’s injury, the Wings signed Ohio State alum Ajae Petty to a seven-day hardship contract. Petty was a part of the Minnesota Lynx on a training camp deal and was waived before the beginning of the season. During her stint with Ohio State, she averaged 9.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 0.9 steals per game across 33 appearances. In addition to her, Dallas also signed Serena Sundell to a second seven-day hardship contract.

The three-time WNBA champions are also expecting to have Aziaha James back after missing two games due to a right ankle injury. She is most likely to be with them during their upcoming games against the Golden State Valkyries and the Los Angeles Sparks.
