Gulshan Sharma

Both players are superb in defense but it would be tough for the Argentine ace to compete Musetti in five-set encounter.

Lorenzo Musetti will take on Argentina’s Mariano Navone in the third-round matchup of the 2025 Roland Garros. The world No. 7 outclassed Daniel Elahi Galan in straight sets in 2nd second, while Mariano Navone advanced to third round after straight-set victory over Reilly Opelka. Both players had dominating victories in their first two games.

Lorenzo Musetti vs Mariano Navone Preview

Lorenzo Musetti has been a consistent player on the clay court. This season, he reached the semifinals in all three clay-court masters competitions, Monte Carlo, Rome and Madrid. He dropped three games during the campaign, twice against Carlos Alcaraz and once against Draper. During his journey to Monte Carlo Masters final, the Italian ace beat the defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas in quarterfinals and Alex de Minaur in the semifinals.

The 2024 Wimbledon semifinalist has gone 22-7 in current season, including a 16-3 record on clay court and also made debut in the top-10. He didn’t drop a single set in first two clashes in the 2025 Ronald Garros. Musetti has a 67% winning record in the French Open and best run came in 2023 with the fourth-round appearance.

Mariano Navone made into the third round of a Grand Slam for the first in his career. The Argentine ace dropped only one set in first two games and showed a great character on the clay court where he posted a 14-10 record this season. However, Navone has lost all three matches against the top-10 players in straight sets, hardly winning more than 4 games per set. Before facing Musetti, he lost his previous two matchups against the Italian players (Sinner, Nardi).

Lorenzo Musetti vs Mariano Navone Head to Head Record

Lorenzo Musetti vs Mariano Navone French Open 2025 Prediction

Mariano Navone has beaten Lorenzo Musetti last year in Cagliari Challenger but Grand Slam is a different competition. Both players are superb in defense but it would be tough for the Argentine ace to compete Musetti in five-set encounter. The world No. 7 has become a strong competitor in Grand Slams and his superior forehand adds domination on the clay.

Prediction: Lorenzo Musetti to win in four sets.
