French Open 2025 breakout star Lois Boisson searches for more clay court success, as she guns for glory at the 2025 Bitpanda Hamburg Open. The Frenchwoman will face home favourite Tamara Korpatsch in the Round of 16 on Wednesday, with a spot in the last eight on the line. It will be the first career meeting between these two players ranked No. 63 and No. 163 in the world.

Prior to Roland Garros this year, not many people had heard of the name Lois Boisson. After all, the 22-year-old from Dijon is still hunting for her first tour-level title. Having made her WTA Tour debut at the 2021 Lyon Open, Boisson has been primarily featuring on the 125K Series and Challenger Tour since then. In June 2025, she became the first wild-card to reach a Grand Slam semifinal in their main draw debut. In her most recent tournament, the World No. 63 was knocked out in the Wimbledon qualifying event.

Similar to her opponent on Wednesday, Tamara Korpatsch also managed a straight sets victory in the opening round here, after losing in the Wimbledon qualifiers. The German was defeated in Round-1 of the French Open after overcoming the qualifying rounds. At the age of 30, Korpatsch has notched a solitary tour-level championship victory – at the 2023 Transylvania Open. A former Top-100 player, she is yet to get past the Round of 64 at all four majors.

Boisson won 77% points on first serve, and had an immaculate return game against Grabher in Round-1. She also used the drop shot to great effect, including on match point. While the French prodigy was aided by the fact that her home crowd was cheering her on at Roland Garros, she will receive no such favours against the German – Korpatsch. With plenty of slow exchanges on the cards, it will be a battle of patience and endurance.
