Liverpool are reportedly ready to break the bank once again, this time for Bayern Munich star Michael Olise. Notably, the Premier League champions are looking to find a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah. Despite spending £446m in the summer transfer window, Liverpool have been disapointing. It was the most ever spent by a Premier League club in a single window. The Reds have lost nine matches in their last twelve games, which is their worst sequence since 1953.
According to reports, the Reds are now preparing a record-breaking €130-140m offer for the French winger Michael Olise in the summer of 2026. That figure would surpass the British transfer record they set with the £125 million signing of Alexander Isak. The move shows Liverpool’s desire to refresh their attacking line, even after spending close to £200 million on new forwards last summer.
Hugo Ekitike has been the more impactful of the two new additions, scoring six goals and assisting twice this season. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah’s advancing age and expected exit in 2027 have accelerated Liverpool’s search for a future star. Olise, with nine goals and nine assists already this season for Bayern Munich, has emerged as Liverpool’s top target.

However, the pursuit won’t come easy. Michael Olise left Crystal Palace for £50.7 million to join Bayern Munich in 2024. The 23-year-old has flourished in Germany, racking up 29 goals and 33 assists in 75 appearances. His performances have not only made him indispensable to Vincent Kompany’s side but also caught the attention of Paris Saint-Germain, who are reportedly preparing their own bid.

Bayern, however, are determined to keep their star winger. Reports suggest the Bundesliga champions are planning to extend Olise’s contract until 2031, alongside a lucrative salary increase to ward off interest from England and elsewhere. Olise’s current deal runs until 2029 and does not include a release clause, which could be a major hurdle for any suitor.
