Arsenal Outclass Bayern Munich To Stay Perfect in the Champions League

Arsenal delivered an emphatic statement at the Emirates as the Gunners defeated Bayern Munich 3-1 to extend their perfect Champions League campaign to five wins from five. Just days after dismantling Tottenham in the north London derby, Mikel Arteta’s side once again showcased precision and control. Arsenal climbed to the top of the league phase table and reinforced their growing status as one of the tournament’s leading contenders.

The Gunners imposed themselves early and their breakthrough came via a familiar source. Bukayo Saka’s corner found Jurrien Timber, who powered home his header for Arsenal’s 10th set-piece goal of the season. However, Bayern responded well and teenage midfielder Lennart Karl levelled the contest with a composed finish after Serge Gnabry and Joshua Kimmich combined to unlock the Arsenal defense. It was the first goal Arsenal had conceded in the Champions League this season, but it turned out to be their only moment of vulnerability.

Arsenal Dominate Bayern in 2nd Half

Arteta’s substitutions proved decisive after the break. Riccardo Calafiori, recently introduced, delivered a devastating low cross into the box where Noni Madueke arrived to guide in his first goal for the Gunners. Bayern, unbeaten in all competitions prior to kickoff, pushed to respond but lacked their usual cutting edge. Harry Kane was unusually quiet and failed to record a single attempt at the ground where he has so often thrived.

Arsenal seized control and sealed the win in ruthless fashion. Sunday’s derby hat-trick hero Eberechi Eze threaded a brilliant ball over the Bayern back line to Gabriel Martinelli, who sprinted beyond Manuel Neuer and finished into an open net.
