Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc did not start the Imola GP on a positive note. The Rosso Corsa duo was starting from 11th and 12th on the grid respectively. After a humiliating exit from Q2, Ferrari was in complete distress. This was the first race that the Prancing Horses found themselves out of contention from Q3 in Imola.
It all came down to the final race on Sunday. Although, none expected the Ferraris to get a podium or top-5 finish. The pace of their car was all over th pace. Braking issues were hindering the drivers from getting the best out of the car. Imola is also known for its difficulty to overtake.

However, the race start was a completely different story. The two Ferraris started making moves instantly as they moved through the field. Leclerc and Hamilton were overtaking cars in tandem as put their Ferraris in the top-10. The non-existent pace of the Prancing Horses was on full display during the Imola GP. They were unable to claim a podium this week but they did manage to gather the most amount of points they could from Imola.
As soon as the drivers got the green signal, the Ferrari was working in overdrive mode. Their cars were not perfect but they managed to utilise the superiority of their machines over the midfield cars. Both Hamilton and Leclerc were careful enough to not waste any laps in overtaking the cars ahead.
Charles Leclerc pit early for hard tyres. He was facing a huge loss in grip by the end of the race. But, Leclerc never let the cars behind him get the better of him. He was going to finish in fifth if not for the penalty to give back his place to Alex Albon. Charles Leclerc and Alex Albon were involved in a racing incident. The stewards came to the decision that Leclerc was at fault for forcing Albon wide.

This penalty did not hurt Ferrari badly though. Lewis Hamilton who was racing closely behind the duo got past them instantly. He secured a fourth place finish for Ferrari. Hamilton’s talents were in question numerous times this season. But the seven-time champion showed everyone that he is not backing down so soon.
Overall, it was a great race for the Maranello outfit. They made sure to not disappoint the Tifosi during the race.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
