Laurent Mekies Reflects on His First Day at Red Bull Racing!

Laurent Mekies is the new CEO of Red Bull Racing. The former Racing Bulls principal will fill behind the void left by team principal Christian Horner. Laurent Mekies was immediately promoted, following the fiasco between Red Bull and Christian Horner. Laurent Mekies is taking over a highly unstable team facing multiple issues on every end. It’s safe to say that the new Red Bull Racing boss has a lot on his plate currently.

Laurent Mekies came forward to talk about his first day with the team of Red Bull Racing. The former Racing Bulls team principal does not lack any experience in team management. He has served in important roles in multiple teams. Additionally, Laurent Mekies was also a part of the FIA for a considerable period of time. Here’s how the newest team boss of Red Bull Racing responded to his team during his first day at the office.

Laurent Mekies Talks About His New Colleagues at Red Bull Racing

Mekies has an illustrious resume. But he needs to fill the shoes of an equally famous team leader. His predecessor took Red Bull to the top of Formula 1 tables more than once. The past few years in Formula 1 were arguably the best years for Red Bull Racing. The Austrian team was a nightmare for its rivals with the level of performance they displayed.

In an interview with Formula 1, Mekies says-

“We look at Red Bull as being the sharpest team, having managed to accumulate the biggest amount of talent together, and you guys are just the best at what you do, and it’s a privilege to join the team. The focus will really be making sure that all the talented people here have what they need to perform at their best, because they are already the very best, and we’ll be focusing on that, focusing on making sure that the Red Bull energy is flowing through the team.”

Almost immediately, Lauren Mekies addressed the elephant in the room. The teams are now gearing up for the regulation changes of 2026. Red Bull Racing has a slightly different challenge in addition to the design changes.

The team will introduce a new power unit for the 2026 season. Red Bull Powertrains and Ford are going to debut their first collaboration power unit in the 2026 season.
