Formula 1 is on an unusual break from racing. The next race is scheduled at the end of this month at the Belgian Grand Prix. However, there is no lack of activity in the paddock. The entire Formula 1 community is still getting accustomed to the recent changes in one of the biggest teams of the 21st century. Red Bull Racing will no longer work with Christian Horner as their CEO and Team Principal.

Multiple championships and years of dominance on track came to an end abruptly this week. Christian Horner was fired from Red Bull Racing with no warnings of any proper reasons. While forums and fans create theories about his exit, his successor is already taking the reins of the team. Racing Bulls team principal, Laurent Mekies is going to lead Red Bull Racing during the Belgian Grand Prix.

A lot of questions remain unanswered at the Milton-Keynes outfit. Here’s what Christian Horner had to say about his exit from the team.

Christian Horner Addresses The Team Before His Untimely Exit

Christian Horner was allowed to talk to his before he was relieved of his duties. In an interview with Sky F1, Horner told Martin Brundle that he was not given any reason for his exit. During his farewell speech, he reportedly broke down in tears in front of his former colleagues. Christian Horner recounted his struggles and work with the team since their debut in Formula 1.

“Yesterday, I was informed by Red Bull that operationally I would no longer be involved with the business or the team moving forward. I will still remain employed by the company, but, operationally the baton will be handed over. It came as a shock to myself. I’ve had a chance to reflect over the last 12 hours and wanted to stand in front of all of you to break this news and to express my gratitude to each and every single member of the team that has given so much during the last 20-and-a-half years.”

As a matter of fact, Horner is no longer working for Red Bull Racing. When referring to “remain employed”, Horner is talking about the gardening leave that he has to undergo before joining a rival team. The period of inactivity is a part of his exit clause with Red Bull Racing.

Horner has had many rivalries in the past with other teams. In a social media post, Horner expressed gratitude to his rivals for the competition he faced and was a part of in the past.
