Potential Landing spots for Jamaal Williams after getting released from the New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints waived veteran RB Jamaal Williams from the team according to ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Williams had, statistically the worst season of his career last year playing for the Saints.

He had career lows in almost every statistical category and finished the season with 164 rushing yards, only a single touchdown, 11 first downs, along with 9 receptions, 57 receiving yards, while playing 14 games and starting for only one. He also had 3.4 rushing yards per attempt whereas he averaged 4.1 and 4.3 with the Lions and the Packers respectively.

It was a tough year for the Veteran last season and it could be difficult for him to find another team to play for. Nevertheless, today we’ll look at the best landing spots for Williams and see if he can have another great season like the one he did while playing for the Lions in 2022. Let’s get right into it.

Top landing spots for Jamaal Williams

New York Giants: It is no secret that the Giants have been struggling to find any kind of success and it has been a tough stretch for them. Adding a veteran player like Williams may help them as they do not have much to begin with. Since the Giants let Barkley walk away from the team, they really cannot complain about not having a great running back.

Seattle Seahawks: The Seahawks are more or less dependent on their passing game and their QB Geno Smith to make plays. Adding Williams to the roster may decrease some of the load on their QB and add a little running game to their offensive arsenal.

Carolina Panthers: Even though they have Chuba Hubbard who has been steadily improving each and every season, their backup running back situation is starting to look thin. Jonathon Brooks suffered a season-ending injury with a right-ACL tear in December of 2024 and Raheem Blacksheer is set to become a free agent. Keeping that in mind, the Panthers could definitely use some help from Williams and it would make sense to sign him for at least a season.

Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys have been struggling to find a consistent amount of production from their running backs apart from maybe Rico Dowdle who had a decent year last season. However, even Dowdle is headed towards free agency and adding Williams to their roster should definitely be on their radar.

Cleveland Browns- Williams could also head to the Browns as their RB Nick Chubb is still having recovery lags after he suffered multiple gruesome injuries in 2023. Beyond Chubb, the Browns lack consistent production from their backups. Williams can provide his experience and durability to the Browns and offer a steady hand to their unit.
