Breaking News: Lance Stroll Withdraws from Spanish GP 2025!

Why is Lance Stroll missing today's race in Spain?

If the 2025 season wasn’t good for Lance Stroll, it’s getting worse. In qualifying, the Canadian Aston Martin driver could not get out of Q2. Stroll was showing promising pace in the first leg of qualifying. As the commentators pointed out, Stroll unfortunately did not replicate his lap times in Q2 to secure a second Q3 entry of 2025.

Lance Stroll is facing a better season compared to his teammate however. Stroll is the only driver earning points for his team. Lance Stroll also recorded the worst F1 record in the 2025 season. He is the driver with most Q1 eliminations in qualifying. Lance Stroll was left fending for himself in the Spanish GP after the qualifying. His teammate would start from Q3. On the other hand, Stroll will get to battle a talented and fast traffic of cars on the midfield.

According to the recent announcement made by the team, Stroll won’t get a chance to participate in the race. Lance Stroll is opting out of the Spanish Grand Prix for today.

Lance Stroll Faces Medical Issues

Stroll had a terrible crash pre-season in 2023. It gave him fractures and a broken toe. During the 2023 season, Lance underwent a cautious approach to help with rehabilitation. Even though he had a bad accident to break his rhythm, Stroll claimed sixth in the first race of the season in 2023. His medical team was doubting his condition to race in the opening races of the season.

It looks like the ghost of his past is back in 2025. According to the official team statement,

“Over the course of the past six weeks Lance has been experiencing pain in his hand and wrist, which his medical consultant believes is in relation to the procedure he underwent in 2023. As a result his medical team have confirmed that he will not race tomorrow and he will undergo a procedure to rectify these issues before focusing on his recovery.”

Stroll is currently 11th in driver standings with 14 points to his name. Stroll’s points have helped his team claim eighth in the championship as of this weekend. The team will have to rely on Alonso for the Spanish GP. On the hand, Alonso has been very unlucky this season. His last race was ruined with a DNF due to power unit failure.
