Khamzat Chimaev Gets Custom Wolf Shorts Ahead UFC 319, But There Is A Problem!

Zaid Quraishi

Khamzat Chimaev has always been a force to reckon with inside the octagon. The undefeated fighter has steamrolled through opponents with his relentless wrestling and crushing ground game. His nickname ‘Borz’ means wolf in Chechen, and he’s lived up to that fierce reputation since joining the UFC. From his early days when he fought twice in ten days back in 2020, Chimaev has shown he’s not an average fighter. He’s the kind of guy who makes other fighters lose sleep at night, the Boogeyman!

Now, as he prepares for the biggest fight of his career against Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319, Chimaev is getting the full superstar treatment. The UFC has given him custom fight shorts that perfectly capture his wolf persona. But like many things in fighting, what looks perfect on paper doesn’t always work out in real life.

Custom Wolf Shorts Pay Tribute To Khamzat Chimaev And His Homeland

The new shorts are absolutely stunning and pay tribute to Chimaev’s roots in every possible way. Venum designed them with a beautiful blue and gray color scheme that catches the eye immediately. The most striking feature has to be the pair of howling wolves on each side of the shorts. These wolves represent everything Chimaev stands for as a fighter and as a person from Chechnya.

The design team went all out with the details too. They added the blue peaks signifying the mountains of Chechnya as a backdrop across the shorts. This touch shows respect for his homeland and gives fans a glimpse into where this beast of a fighter comes from. The shorts join Chimaev with an elite group of UFC stars who get custom gear. Fighters like Jon Jones, Max Holloway, and Alex Pereira have all received this special treatment. It’s basically the UFC’s way of saying you’ve made it to the top level.

Khamzat Chimaev Sees Issues In The New Shorts

A video leaked online showing Chimaev trying on his brand new custom shorts for the first time. Instead of the excitement fans would expect, ‘Borz’ looked unhappy with what he saw. The problem wasn’t the design or the colors, it was the fir. The slits were simply too short for his liking, and that could hinder his performance.

This might seem like a small issue, but fighters are incredibly particular about their gear. Every piece of equipment needs to feel perfect when they are about to step into a cage with another trained killer. A fighter’s shorts can affect their movement, their kicks, and even their confidence. The good news is that Venum will likely do some quick alterations before fight night. And hopefully, Chimaev will feel comfortable in the altered piece.
