Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Heartwarming Gesture For A Cancer Patient Revealed On A Podcast

Zaid Quraishi

Josh Thompson shares a heartwarming, untold story about Khabib Nurmagomedov on a recent podcast, offering fans a glimpse into his life!

In the rough world of MMA, where trash talk and bad blood often steal headlines, Khabib Nurmagomedov has always been different. The undefeated ‘Eagle’ soared through his career with grace, humility, and an unwavering moral compass that set him apart. From helping the homeless in Dubai to building schools in Africa, Khabib’s charitable acts have become legendary in the MMA community. But it’s often the quiet, unpublicized moments of kindness that truly reveal a person’s character.

Recently, fans got another glimpse into Nurmagomedov’s humble nature when his former teammate and podcast host Josh Thomson shared a touching story. The tale comes at a time when many fighters chase clout on social media, making every good deed a PR opportunity. But that has never been Khabib’s style. The man who dominated the lightweight division with a perfect 29-0 record has always preferred to let his actions speak louder than Instagram posts.

A Friend’s Simple Request

When Josh Thomson reached out to Khabib Nurmagomedov about meeting a young cancer patient in Las Vegas, he probably expected some scheduling gymnastics. After all, the former champion keeps a busy schedule these days, managing his team and coaching future stars.

“Two weeks ago when I was in California, I called up Khabib and said ‘Hey I have a friend who is very sick and lives in Las Vegas I’d like if you would meet him. He has cancer and his kids are young. He’s a fan and if you get a chance, could you come by?” Thomson stated on the Weighing In podcast.

But Khabib’s response was as swift as his takedowns used to be. He jumped at the request. No publicists, no cameras, no social media team in tow. Just a fighter answering a friend’s call for help.

“He’s like we will jump in the car and go wherever you want me to go. Didn’t even hesitate. That’s what a friend does. That meant a lot to me.”

This story adds another chapter to Nurmagomedov’s well-documented history of loyalty and friendship. Remember when he threatened to quit the UFC at his peak if his teammates were cut after the Conor McGregor fiasco? Or how about his rejection of friendship with Jon Jones, just because Daniel Cormier had bad blood with him? Some might call it old-school, but there is something refreshing about a fighter who values principles over popularity.

A Champion’s True Character

Thomson’s revelation on the Weighing In podcast shows us the Khabib Nurmagomedov that cameras rarely capture. The same intensity that made him push through training camps at AKA now drives him to help others without seeking recognition. It is worth noting that this isn’t the first time he has done something like this. There are countless untold stories of Khabib Nurmagomedov visiting sick children in hospitals across Russia and the UAE. The man who never lost in the cage keeps winning hearts outside it, one quiet act of kindness at a time!
