Kevin Holland Taunts Belal Muhammad After UFC 315 Title Loss, Sparks Heated Exchange

Zaid Quraishi

Kevin Holland trolls Belal Muhammad after his loss to Jack Della Maddalena, sparking a social media war with him!

Kevin Holland has never been one to keep his thoughts to himself, and his latest comments about Belal Muhammad have created quite the stir in the welterweight division. Holland’s tendency to speak his mind has gotten him into trouble before, but it’s also made him one of the most entertaining personalities in the UFC. The guy simply can’t help himself when it comes to stirring the pot.

Belal Muhammad’s shocking title loss to Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315 sent shockwaves through the division. ‘Remember the Name’ had worked so hard to finally capture UFC gold, only to lose it in his very first title defense. The defeat was particularly brutal because Muhammad had built his entire career on being the hardest worker in the room, grinding out decision victories through superior cardio and relentless pressure. Losing to a new fighter like Della Maddalena must have stung badly, and Holland wasn’t about to let him forget it anytime soon.

Kevin Holland Takes A Shot At Belal Muhammad After Loss

Holland didn’t hold back when reporters asked him about Muhammad’s title loss during UFC 316 media day. He was blunt in his approach as he revealed he was never a fan of Belal Muhammad.

“It was pretty cool to see Belal lose the belt…I’ve never thought the world of Belal. He’s a hard worker, he puts in the work, but I mean, camps boil down to who’s going to put in the most work and as long as you outwork during the camp, you can damn sure outwork him in the fight. That’s all he really has is work ethic.”

But Holland wasn’t done there. He went even further by questioning whether Muhammad deserved to be called a real champion at all.

“Shout-out to anybody who’s successfully gotten a UFC belt, props to you. But if you haven’t defended the belt, did you really get a f*cking belt? Isn’t that what you all said about Conor?”

The comparison to Conor McGregor was particularly harsh, considering how fans and fighters criticized McGregor for never defending his featherweight title after winning it. Holland’s assessment wasn’t entirely unfair from a technical standpoint. Muhammad’s path to the title involved a lot of controversial decisions and close fights that could have gone either way. While his work ethic was undeniable, many fans and fighters questioned whether he possessed the elite skills necessary to stay at the top of such a stacked division.

Belal Muhammad Fires Back

Belal Muhammad’s response came swift and brutal on social media. He aimed at Holland’s resume and called him out for not even being close to the UFC gold ever.

“It’s always the ones that’ll never touch gold that have the most to say. Doesn’t this bum lose every other fight he’s in?”

The former champion wasn’t wrong about Holland’s inconsistency. Despite his entertaining personality and solid skills, Holland has struggled to put together winning streaks throughout his UFC career. He will look brilliant one fight and then lose a decision to someone he should beat on paper.

This entire exchange perfectly captures what makes MMA feuds so entertaining. Both fighters have legitimate points about each other’s careers, but they’re also being petty and personal in the best possible way!
