Phoenix Suns’ smooth start to the season has hit a roadblock as star player Kevin Durant is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks due to a left calf strain.
The injury occurred during the Suns’ narrow 114-113 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday. Durant, who played 37 minutes and scored 26 points in the game, will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Durant’s absence is a significant blow to the Suns, who have been off to an impressive start this NBA season with an 8-1 record, putting them at the top of the Western Conference. His contributions have been instrumental, leading them to a seven-game winning streak.
This season, Durant has been averaging 28 points per game, along with 7 rebounds and three assists. Durant, who recently completed a historic milestone, He has been shooting an impressive 55% from the field and 43% from beyond the arc.

The Suns will now rely on Devin Booker and Bradley Beal to step up and fill the scoring gap left by Durant. Royce O’Neale is also expected to see more court time in the power forward position.
The team’s upcoming schedule includes some challenging games. Of their next eight games, only two are against teams under .500.
The Suns will face challenging matchups against the Thunder, who also has an 8-1 record. Star-studded Timberwolves and Knicks are also likely to test Suns roster.
