Nottingham Forest in talks to sign Sevilla defender Jose Angel Carmona

Nottingham Forest’s busy summer transfer window may not be over yet, with the Premier League side reportedly in discussions to bring Sevilla right-back Jose Angel Carmona to the City Ground. The move comes after what has already been a whirlwind few weeks for manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who has overseen significant changes to his squad ahead of the new season.

The window began with a setback as winger Anthony Elanga departed for Newcastle United, casting early doubts over Forest’s ambitions for their Europa League campaign. However, the club quickly moved to reinforce their ranks, with owner Evangelos Marinakis financing a series of eye-catching arrivals. Dan Ndoye joined from Bologna and scored on his league debut, while Omari Hutchinson, James McAtee and Arnaud Kalimuendo have all bolstered the attack from Chelsea, Manchester City and Rennes respectively.

Carmona identified as long-term defensive option

Despite the attacking additions, Forest are now turning their attention to the defensive line, with Carmona emerging as a key target. The 23-year-old Spanish full-back enjoyed a breakthrough season with Sevilla, making 35 La Liga appearances after loan spells at Elche and Getafe helped him establish himself at senior level.

Carmona’s profile fits Forest’s recruitment strategy of targeting young talents with long-term potential. A Spain under-21 international, he offers five years on current right-back Ola Aina in terms of age, while also providing competition for versatile defender Nico Williams.
