John Cena destroyed CM Punk physically and verbally before Night of Champions.
John Cena has always been known for delivering fiery promos, and on June 20, 2025, he delivered yet another promo that verbally destroyed CM Punk. After assaulting CM Punk physically, John Cena made sure to burn him verbally. He shook the WWE Universe by channeling CM Punk’s Pipebomb, but added John Cena quirks to it. It all began when John Cena and Ron Killings faced each other.

John Cena and Ron Killings faced each other, and while old John Cena would have never run away from a fight, his new version chose new ways to deal with situations. Ron Killings started dominating the match, and John Cena left the ring. He then disqualified himself by attacking Ron Killings with the Undisputed Championship belt.

CM Punk stormed into the ring, and a brawl between him and John Cena ensued. John Cena floored CM Punk with a low blow and then hit him on his head twice with the Undisputed Championship. He then sent CM Punk through the table with a vicious Attitude Adjustment. John Cena recreated the scenes from 2011 when CM Punk cost him a match against R-Truth and then delivered a pipebomb promo.
RIGHT THROUGH THE TABLE! @JohnCena is unhinged…

There were many similarities in both moments, like the people involved and John Cena losing the match, only this time he lost intentionally. CM Punk was the one to deliver the pipebomb bomb promo in 2011. John Cena made it a lot better by adding interest accrued over 14 years. What’s interesting was the crowd loving it and even chanting John Cena’s name during his promo.
John Cena was in no mood to spare CM Punk and used the latter’s pipebomb promo to deliver verbal third-degree burns. He claimed he likes CM Punk more than anyone he has ever shared a locker room with. Cena told CM Punk that being “the best bullsh**ter in the World” is the only thing he is better at than him. He also dropped some easter eggs from his pipe bomb promo, shouting “hello” to Nic Nemeth and Matt Cardona.

John Cena also dismissed CM Punk’s “voice of the voiceless” persona and called him “Mr. TKO,” who became a multi-millionaire. He concluded Punk was “Best in the World” for seven minutes, 14 years ago, but he is the GOAT. This was one of the greatest promos of John Cena’s career that flipped the narrative and paid homage to a pivotal moment in WWE history.
We're speechless…@CMPunk @JohnCena #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/Xs1wZExhDC

John Cena didn’t just copy one of the most iconic moments of CM Punk, but he flipped it and owned it as well. This came in response to CM Punk’s taunt that John Cena is mimicking his story of ruining WWE. The rivalry will now move to Saudi Arabia, where John Cena will defend his title against CM Punk at the Night of Champions.
Where have we seen that before? 🤔#SmackDown pic.twitter.com/d5GIvSc3yV
