Joao Felix Set To Join Al-Nassr in £43.7M Move As Chelsea Clear Path for New Signings

The move reunites the 25-year-old Portuguese attacker with Cristiano Ronaldo, his national teammate and the current face of Al Nassr.

Joao Felix is set for a high-profile move to the Saudi Pro League, with Al-Nassr agreeing a deal worth up to £43.7 million (€50m) to sign the Portuguese forward from Chelsea. The agreement includes an initial £26.2 million (€30m) payment and up to £17.5 million (€20m) in add-ons.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, all documents between Al Nassr and Chelsea have now been signed. Felix is now completing his medical at the club’s pre-season base in Austria. He is expected to sign a two-year contract, keeping him at the club until 2027.

The move reunites the 25-year-old Portuguese attacker with Cristiano Ronaldo, his national teammate and the current face of Al Nassr. Notably, Joao Felix flew to Austria to join Al Nassr using Ronaldo’s private jet. The Saudi Pro League giants have set up their preseason training camp in the quiet town of Saalfelden from July 20 to August 4.

The Saudi club saw off competition from Felix’s former side Benfica to secure the deal, adding another marquee name to their squad. After renewing Ronaldo’s contract and appointing veteran Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus, the acquisition of Felix is seen as another step in building a title-winning side.

Smart Business by Chelsea

Meanwhile, for Chelsea, the transfer marks another pivotal piece of summer business. By offloading Felix, the club is set to recoup nearly the entire £45 million they paid Atletico Madrid to make the deal permanent last year. The attacker had previously spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at AC Milan, netting three goals in 19 appearances.

Chelsea’s summer sales are now approaching £130 million, having already parted ways with Djordje Petrovic, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Noni Madueke. More exits could follow, with Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell and Armando Broja also placed on the transfer list.

The Felix deal is expected to accelerate Chelsea’s pursuit of RB Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons. The club has spent over £200 million this summer on players like Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, and Joao Pedro. However, their transfer activity has been closely monitored due to UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations. The Blues were fined €31 million ($36.5 million) recently and must ensure a positive net spend to avoid future European registration bans.
