Jiri Prochazka Says Carlos Ulberg Turned Down a Fight Offer

Eric Divakaran

The UFC light heavyweight division is a battleground of elite talent, with Alex Pereira reclaiming the title via first round KO over Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320. Amid the chaos, Jiri Prochazka, the former champion, reasserted his contender status with a third-round knockout of Khalil Rountree Jr. on the same card. His performance electrified T-Mobile Arena, signaling his intent to reclaim the belt he lost in 2023.

Prochazka’s unorthodox style, blending raw power and relentless aggression, has made him a fan favorite. Now 32-5-1, he’s eyeing a rematch with Pereira or Ankalaev. However, a recent revelation about a turned-down fight with rising star Carlos Ulberg has added intrigue, spotlighting the division’s depth and rivalries as Prochazka carves his path back to gold.

Prochazka Claims Ulberg Declined Fight Offer

Jiri Prochazka talked to Ariel Helwani about the Carlos Ulberg fight offer he had received and here is what he had to say;

“After final exams of university, there was offer for Ulberg in Australia. I accepted that and he declined because I don’t know, whatever, he just declined that. And I accept Rountree and in the same time, he accepted Reyes.”

Jiri Prochazka Revealed His Future Plans

When Ariel Helwani asked Jiri Prochazka about a fight against Carlos Ulberg for the vacant title, Jiri said, “Whatever. Like I said, I really don’t care who will be my opponent. I don’t wanna choose my opponent. I already confirmed for Ulberg, then I confirmed Rountree, so for me right it’s… If you wanna be the champion, you have to go through everyone,” signaling his intent to fight whoever wants to take him on next.

Carlos Ulberg’s camp hasn’t addressed the claim, but we believe that a Ulberg vs Prochazka fight could be next. With Pereira hinting at a heavyweight move, and potentially fighting Tom Aspinall as his next fight, a Prochazka-Ulberg clash could loom if the belt becomes vacant.

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
