Will Boisson's Cinderella run come to an end today?
In the second week of the 2025 French Open, we have a fourth-round clash between the number 3-seeded Jessica Pegula and her French opponent Lois Boisson. This match will be the second one on court Philippe-Chatrier today and is expected to be an exciting one, given that the local talent will take on the number 3 seed.
Boisson has made a surprise run at this year’s Roland Garros. It is not only her French Open debut this year, but also her first-ever appearance in the main draw of any Grand Slam. She entered the tournament as a wild card and has done a marvelous job of coming this far.
Pegula started the year pretty well, making it to the finals at the Adelaide Open and then winning her first title of the year at the ATX Open. She continued her strong form by reaching the final in Miami and then winning the Charleston Open; however, since then, she has made early exits during the clay season in Stuttgart, Madrid, Rome, and Strasbourg prior to Roland Garros.
Overall, the American has been performing well on her serve, but her double faults are a bit high. She has 84 aces to 82 double faults, but has managed to win 73.8% of her service games. She also has a pretty decent 45.5% break point conversion rate.

Local favorite, Boisson has not had much success at the highest level of the sport, but she has 6 career titles, including 1 WTA 125 title and 5 ITF titles. She came through to the fourth round after a three-set win in the opening round against Elise Mertens, followed by a comfortable second-round win against Anhelina Kalinina and a tough three-set battle against compatriot Elsa Jacquemot in the third round.
Today’s match at Roland Garros will mark the first career meeting between Jessica Pegula and Lois Boisson. Ideally, even though the players have never faced each other, the American has a far better game and should take the 1-0 lead in their head-to-head rivalry.

At present, there is no real comparison between the two players. The American is currently enjoying her peak ranking at world number 3, whereas the French 22-year-old is ranked 361st, with a career high of 152. Pegula has 8 titles to her name, but Boisson is yet to win a title at this level.
Jessica Pegula | Category | Lois Boisson |
---|---|---|
3 | Ranking | 361 |
462-258 | Career W-L | 132-79 |
28-10 | YTD W-L | 16-7 |
8 | Career Titles | 0 |
2 | Grand Slams | 0 |
0 | YTD Titles | 0 |
Boisson has had an excellent run so far at Roland Garros, but now she runs into one of the more consistent and top players on tour. Pegula, who is not the best player on the court, should still have enough quality to brush aside the qualifier despite home support egging her on.
Prediction: Pegula in straight sets

The betting odds also reflect the gulf in talent between the two players, with the number 3-seeded Pegula being favored overwhelmingly over her French counterpart.
Jessica Pegula Win: 1/7
Lois Boisson Win: 23/5
