Jaxon Smith-Njigba continued his breakout 2025 campaign on Monday Night Football, powering the Seattle Seahawks to a 27-19 win over the Houston Texans with eight receptions, 123 yards, and a touchdown. The second-year wideout has now posted his fifth 100-yard game of the season (the most in the NFL) and leads the league with 819 receiving yards through Week 7. When stacked against the NFL’s other top receivers, Ja’Marr Chase has 629 yards, Puka Nacua 616, George Pickens 607, and Amon-Ra St. Brown 538.

That 190-yard buffer over Chase underscores how dominant and consistent he’s been, turning what began as flashes of potential in his rookie year into a full-blown takeover that’s redefining the Seahawks’ passing rhythm.

Seahawks’ Offensive Engine, Smith’s WR Domination

The Seahawks have long searched for a receiver who could balance finesse with reliability and Smith-Njigba has delivered both. He became just the second player in franchise history to notch three straight 100-yard outings, a feat last seen during the Steve Largent era. His precise route-running and ability to win outside have expanded Seattle’s playbook, forcing defenses to account for him on every snap.

According to NFL Next Gen Stats, 77.8% of his routes this season have come from the outside, a dramatic shift from his early slot-heavy usage. Seven of his eight catches Monday came from that alignment, totaling 104 yards and an 11-yard score.

Cooper Kupp, one of the league’s most respected receivers, couldn’t help but take notice. “There’s nothing routine about what he’s been able to do productivity-wise,” Kupp said postgame. “That’s difficult. Takes a lot of work to be able to do that.
