Both players had a terrific clay court this year and faced each other recently in Australian Open.
Fourth-seeded, Jasmine Paolini will take on Elina Svitolina for the second time in the grand slam this year as they lock horns in the fourth round of the 2025 Roland Garros. Paolini outclassed Yuliia Starodubtseva in straight sets to win the third round, while Svitolina overcame Bernarda Pera 7-6, 7-6 to reach the round-of-16. Both players recently met in the Australian Open so it would be a great contest.

Since the early exit from Australian Open and injury issues, Jasmine Paolini had a remarkable season. The Italian ace is on a nine-match winning streak. The 29-year-old won the Rome Masters and became the first woman to win both singles and doubles competition in the Italian Open since 1990. She outclassed world no. 2 Coco Gauff in the final and Jelena Ostapenko in the semifinals.
Paolini is chasing a Roland Garros glory this year after dropping a 28-8 record in the season. She has gone 13-2 on the clay court and her current form has been superb. She struggled to win in the first round but showed great effort in the next two matches.

Elina Svitolina is coming off a tough victory in the third round. The Ukrainian ace hasn’t dropped a single set yet but required three tiebreaks to win the game against Bernarda Pera. Svitolina has been oustanding on the clay court and dropped a dominant 17-2 record in 2025. She won a title in Rouen and had a great run in Madrid and Rome. She is a 12-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist and has previously overcame Paolini in Australian Open.
It will be the second time when Jasmine Paolini will take on Elina Svitolina. Both players recently met in the third round of the Australian Open when the Ukrainian ace knocked out Paolini after dropping the opening set.

Jasmime Paolini is currently on her best run of form and her Masters title at Rome in both singles and doubles’ event shows her dominant display. However, she faces a toughest task of Svitolina, who beat her in Australian Open this year. Despite a hard-court victory, you cannot write off the Ukrainian ace in the French Open. With a 17-2 record on the clay court, Svitolina won’t be an easy opponent for Paolini. If Paolini handles long rallies, she would avenge the Australian Open’s loss on Sunday.
Prediction: Paolini to win in three sets.
