Youthful Exuberance vs Veteran Magic on Andy Murray Arena.
The 2025 HSBC Championships in Queen’s Club will see an intense Round of 16 clash as Jakub Mensik and Roberto Bautista Agut lock horns on Wednesday. While Mensik is the No. 8 seed in West London this week, Bautista Agut survived a marathon opening encounter to reach this stage. Needless to say, only one of them will progress to the last eight.
Mensik and Bautista Agut have the style of play to excel on grass. The Spaniard is a former Wimbledon semifinalist, and knows how to change direction whilst taking the ball on the rise. He will be keen on joining the list of illustrious Spanish winners here in the 21st century – Rafael Nadal, Feliciano Lopez and Carlos Alcaraz. However, the Mensik challenge will be monumental.
The Czech prodigy has taken the tennis world by storm at the age of 19. He defeated Novak Djokovic to win his first Masters-1000 championship in Miami earlier this year. Mensik also reached quarterfinals in Brisbane, Auckland as well as Madrid. One of the main challenges for Bautista Agut will be to neutralise the powerful serve of his 6’5” opponent.
The head to head record between Mensik and Bautista Agut is 1-0 in favour of Czechia’s young gun. Mensik defeated his counterpart in three sets en route to his title charge at the Miami Masters in 2025. It was an opening round encounter, and the 19-year-old prevailed despite battling an injury and being on the verge of pulling out of the tournament.

Mensik has limited experience on the green grass courts. He could still be getting used to the pace and zip of the courts, and the main goal will be to find his footing ahead of Wimbledon. Nonetheless, his serve is his biggest weapon – and it came to his aid against another former Wimbledon semifinalist in Cameron Norrie. While the Spanish veteran RBA could trouble him, he may not outlast him over three sets.
Prediction: Jakub Mensik in three sets.

The initial odds predict a victory for Jakub Mensik with relative ease. It is unlikely that there will be much of a change in the market. Here are the odds:
Jakub Mensik Win: 4/9
Roberto Bautista Agut Win: 7/4
