Is Caitlin Clark Playing Tonight? Update on Caitlin Clark’s Availability for Indiana Fever vs. Connecticut Sun Game

Garima Ranawat

Will Caitlin Clark play against the Connecticut Sun on Friday? Read to find out.

The Indiana Fever are back in action as they host the Connecticut Sun in their two-game homestand on Friday, May 30. Coming off a two-game losing streak, they will avoid their third straight defeat. They fell 90-88 to the New York Liberty on Saturday and suffered an 83-77 loss to the Washington Mystics on Wednesday night. The clash against the Mystics was their first game without superstar Caitlin Clark, and needless to say, the All-Star point guard’s presence was missed.

On the other hand, the Connecticut Sun have played five games so far. However, they are still looking for their first victory of the season. The Sun are finding it difficult to find rhythm without their previous coach, Stephanie White and star player DeWanna Bonner. Both of them are with the Fever now. In addition, they have a different roster this season as all five of their starters from the last season left in the off season via free agency or trade. They only have Marina Mabrey and Olivia Nelson-Ododa on the roster.

Coming back to the hosts, they will aim to bounce back from their recent defeat. But the big question is, Will Caitlin Clark play tonight?

Is Caitlin Clark Playing Tonight?

Caitlin Clark, the 2024 Rookie Of the Year, suffered a left quadriceps strain during the Fever’s 90-88 loss to the defending champions. After undergoing an MRI, she was sidelined for two weeks. During these two weeks, the Fever were slated to clash against the Mystics twice, the Sun and the Chicago Sky. The first game that Clark missed was Wednesday-night clash, and will remain out of action for tonight’s fixture also.

In simple words, Caitlin Clark won’t lace up against the Connecticut Sun on Friday.

What Happened to Caitlin Clark?

After the clash against the New York Liberty on Monday, the Indiana Fever announced that the former Iowa star suffered a left quadriceps strain. The injury would keep her out of action for a few days, and following it, Clark will undergo a re-evaluation that would reveal her availability status for upcoming games.

While there is no confirmation from the franchise, according to WNBA insider Chloe Peterson, Clark has likely sustained a grade I or grade II strain. If it is a grade I strain, we can expect Clark to be out for two weeks, but in case it is a grade II strain, then Clark could miss four or six weeks of action.

Is Caitlin Clark Leaving WNBA?

For the past few weeks, the WNBA world has been buzzing with rumors of Caitlin Clark leaving the league. According to rumors, the star player, responsible for revolutionizing women’s basketball, especially WNBA, signed a contract with a European team, and will fly across the pond. These speculations were fueled by AI-edited videos and misleading social media posts, leaving the WNBA world abuzz.

However, there is no official update from either Clark or any of the European team which could act as credible evidence. It means those rumors are just rumors, and Clark is not moving from the WNBA.
