WNBA rookie sensation Paige Bueckers suffers a hit

Dallas Wings have been through a shaky start, beating down all the expectations that came with the inclusion of Paige Bueckers. Even with the No. 1 overall pick in their ranks, the Wings have carried over their struggles from last season. And to make matters worse, Paige Bueckers has now suffered an injury blow.

This comes as a huge blow for the Wings, as they have been overly dependent on the former UConn Huskies guard. Paige Bueckers has so far averaged 14.7 points and 6.7 assists per game. She remains at the fifth spot in the WNBA leaderboard.

What is the Paige Bueckers Injury Update?

The latest Paige Bueckers injury update spells trouble for Dallas, a team that’s leaned too heavily on their rookie guard. And even despite that, the Dallas Wings has a 1-5 season record. Bueckers who suffered a concussion will miss out action.

According to the WNBA concussion protocol, Paige Bueckers will need to sit out two games. Hence, the 23-year-old guard will not be available for Wings’ game against Chicago Sky and Seattle Storm. The WNBA has enforced a strict concussion protocol since 2012 for the well-being of their players.

The rules change according to the developing science around the injury. Several other players like Rickea Jackson, Tiffany Hayes, Te-Hina Paopao and Shakira Austin have suffered head injuries and have had to miss action this season due to the concussion protocol.

The Dallas Wings who were favorites against the Chicago Sky on Saturday are now expected to face a tough battle. Wings’ only win this season came on the behest of Bueckers’ team high 21 points against the Connecticut Sun this week.

With two critical games looming, Dallas must now find a new leader, or risk watching the season slip away.
