Yann Sommer had his chance to join the Italian giants back in 2023. The move happened as Andre Onana made his move from the San Siro to join Manchester United in the Premier League. Sommer made an immediate impact as he conceded just 8 goals in his opening 18 games for the Nerazzurri.

Before his stint in Italy, Sommer spent a year playing for Bayern Munich. He joined the Munich side in 2023 as Manuel Neuer was injured. He made 25 caps for the club, where he managed to win the Bundesliga.

Sommer is a well-known name in Germany. Prior to joining the Munich giants, he spent 9 years at Borussia Mönchengladbach, from 2014 to 2023. During that spell, he went on to gain 335 caps for the club and earned 90 clean sheets to his name.

Yann Sommer began his football career with Swiss club FC Basel. Straight from their academy, he was promoted to the U21 squad back in 2005. From 2007 to 2014, he was with the Basel team. But in that duration, he had 2 loan stints for nearly three years at FC Vaduz and Grasshopper Club Zürich.

After his loan spells, he returned to FC Basel, where he won 4 consecutive Swiss Super League titles and a Swiss Cup. At Basel, he made 170 appearances, where he earned 65 clean sheets.
