Indiana Fever Announce Big Roster Decision Amid Caitlin Clark Injury, Sign Veteran Guard to Hardship Contract

The Indiana Fever are pushing hard for the 2025 WNBA playoffs and considering the ongoing scenarios, they are likely to reach the postseason for the second consecutive season. However, the franchise are dealing with injuries, which can impact their chances for the WNBA title. Caitlin Clark is going through a recovery process from a groin injury. Sophie Cunningham, Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson are out for the entire season.

Indiana Fever to Keep Odyssey Sims for the Entire Season

To keep the injuries in mind, the Fever made a final roster decision on Sunday and granted multiple hardship contracts to boost their squad for the playoffs. Indiana will keep veteran guard Odyssey Sims for the rest of the season and fans also welcomed this decision with pure heart.

Indiana Fever have officially signed Odyssey Sims to a hardship contract for the season after the team exhausted the three 7-day contracts. Sims started the 2025 season with the Los Angeles Sparks, and got her first contract with Indiana on Aug. 10. The franchise kept her with the team after a couple of injuries.

“We have signed Odyssey Sims to a rest of season contract,” Indiana Fever wrote to confirm the roster update, alongside a photo.

The 33-year-old has been a key part of the Fever’s offense and shifted all the attention when she scripted a crucial win against her former team. Sims produced a clutch performance against Sparks on Friday. She made a three-pointer to tie the game at 74 points and later, dropped a game-winning shot with 13 seconds left in the game.

The veteran guard was picked in the 2014 WNBA draft and has been a top offensive player in the league. Sims scored 21 points, six rebounds and three assists against the Sparks. followed by 22-point outburst against the Storm. Indiana star has averaged 11.2 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game throughout her WNBA career. She has been regular in the Fever’s starting lineup.
