Indiana Fever managed to hold the nerves and secured a 76-75 win over the Los Angeles Sparks at Crypto.com Arena. It was a full entertainer and Odyssey Sims brough her best game to deliver a crucial win for the short-handed Fever, who are aiming for the consecutive playoff berth this year.

Odyssey Sims’s Clutch Baskets Guide Indiana Fever to Crucial Win in Pursuit of WNBA Playoffs

The race to the 2025 WNBA Playoffs heats up and Indiana Fever stand tall in securing the back-to-back playoff qualification. It was Odyssey Sims, who stole the show with her clutch performance against her former team. Sims scored 21 points. including the Fever’s final five points. Aliyah Boston added 22 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and a career-high six steals.

Sparks had the dominating first quarter as they outscored the Fever 31-24. Indiana reduced the deficit in the second quarter but Sparks built a 47-44 lead at halftime. The Fever dropped a 10-2 run in the beginning of the third quarter to take the lead. Both teams were pushing hard against the tight defense and the second half was bit low-scoring.

Heading to the fourth quarter, Sparks had a 58-57 lead and the match was going towards a thrilling finish. Julie Allemand’s driving layup helped Los Angeles to take a 74-71 lead with 1 minute left in the game. Odyssey Sims came out a crucial three-pointer which tied the game. Azura Stevens grabbed an offensive rebound and was fouled on a putback attempt. She made 1 of 2 free throws to give the Sparks a 75-74 lead.

With 13 seconds to go, the Fever picked up an offensive rebound on its next possession and Sims hit a two-pointer with a jump shot which proved to be a match-winning shot. Los Angeles called for a timeout and Kelsey Plum had a chance but she threw it to Boston. Kelsey Mitchell missed two free throws with 0.4 seconds left. Still, Indiana Fever managed to get a crucial victory.

Boston had a career-high six steals and Fever improved to 21-18 in the regular season. Indiana now moved a half-game ahead of Seattle for sixth place in the WNBA standings. Four Sparks players recorded in double figures and three of them reached double-digit in first half only. Los Angeles now fell to 17-20, two two games behind the Valkyries for the final playoff spot.
