Hartley averaged 8.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game this season.
Connecticut Sun guard Bria Hartley suffered a meniscus tear in her right knee, forcing her to be sidelined for the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season. Hartley sustained the injury during Sun’s practice session ahead of their clash against the Atlanta Dream on Monday, September 1. The Sun announced the injury via social media, revealing that the 32-year-old shooting guard is expected to make full recovery, and will be out for the rest of their campaign in the ongoing season.
Notably, the Sun are one of the four teams which have been officially knocked out of the playoffs contention. Currently in the 11th spot of the standings with a 10-29 win-loss record, they are coming on the back of a 90-74 defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Lynx. Hartley was sidelined for the game with a right knee injury, though the extent of the injury wasn’t clear. Clearly, the injury occurred ahead of Saturday’s game and worsened during Sunday’s practice session.
During team practice, Sun guard Bria Hartley sustained a meniscus tear in her right knee. After further evaluation from medical staff, Bria is expected to make a full recovery but will miss the remainder of the 2025 season.

Talking about Hartley, the former NCAA champion made 38 appearances for the Sun this season. She averaged 8.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.
As stated, Hartley is expected to be out for the remainder of the season. The Sun are already out of the playoffs picture, and only have five regular season games remaining, including the Monday-night encounter with the third-seeded Atlanta Dream. It means that Sun can start focusing on her recovery from today onwards. The medical evaluation also suggests that she is expected to make a full recovery. While no timeline is provided for her return, Fans would hope for her to be back in action by the beginning of the next season.
However, the recovery timeline also depends on the extent of her injury. While grade 1 and grade 2 tears often heal in 2-8 weeks with proper treatment, Grade 3 tears typically require 3-6 months to recover. In several cases, these tears also require surgical treatments. Coming back to Hartley, she has played in 245 WNBA games, and has had 131 starts with an average of 8.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.
