Iga Swiatek vs. Polina Kudermetova Preview

Iga Swiatek made into the her first grass-court final last week in Bad Homburg but lost to Jessica Pegula. Her grass-court revival was important and she showed determination in last event. The Polish ace beat Azarenka, Alexandrova, and Paolini before falling to Pegula. The five-time major champion is on a 22-match winning streak in Slam first rounds. She is yet to find a glory on grass court after a dominance on clay. The former No. 1 player also slipped to her lowest ranking since 2021. Swiatek’s best performance in Wimbledon came in 2023 when she reached the quarterfinals. She had great outings in Masters and WTA events this year but couldn’t win a title.

Polina Kudermetova is struggling with her recent form and lost her previous six matches before coming to Wimbledon. The Russian ace was the runner-up in Brisbane WTA 500 where she beat Samsonova, Kasatkina, and Kalinina. Kudermetova is 0-3 in main-draw matches in Grand Slam and recently suffered the first-round exit to Ostapenko at Roland Garros. She hasn’t won a single grass-court matchup in her career.

Iga Swiatek vs. Polina Kudermetova Wimbledon 2025 Prediction

Iga Swiatek doesn’t offer a similar domination on grass like she has on clay. However, she brings her best version in first round matchups. She hasn’t won a title since 2024 French Open but her majority of the defeats came against the higher seed players. Bad Homburg run proves Iga is slightly improving on the grass. Kudermetova had a brutal start to this year but her inconsistency has been a concern. A debut in Wimbledon, 0-4 record on grass and no main-draw victories in slams tells everything about Kudermetova.

Prediction: Swiatek to win in straight sets.
