Ian Garry Sides With His Former Opponent; Picks Against Leon Edwards At UFC 322!

Ian Machado Garry and Leon Edwards have one of those messy splits that keeps getting worse. The two welterweight contenders used to train together earlier in their careers, but things turned toxic after Garry left Edwards’ team. Now their feud has reached new levels of pettiness and public trash talk. Neither man seems interested in letting this beef die quietly.

During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Ian Garry made his feelings about Leon Edwards crystal clear. He stated he has zero interest in ever fighting his former teammate because of lies Edwards allegedly told about him. According to Garry, Edwards claimed he was kicked out of the gym for breaking team rules and showing up late to training sessions. The Irishman has firmly denied these allegations and refuses to let Edwards profit off their history. Now, he is backing his next opponent to extend his losing streak to three.

Ian Garry Predicts Carlos Prates Will Extend Leon Edwards’ Losing Streak

Ian Garry is himself facing Belal Muhammad in the UFC Qatar co-main event. Meanwhile, Leon Edwards looks to snap a two-fight skid against Carlos Prates at UFC 322. Rather than staying neutral about Edwards’ fight, Garry (16-1) went all-in supporting the Brazilian knockout artist. Garry told Helwani he will be waving a Brazilian flag on November 15th, cheering for Carlos Prates to spark Edwards unconscious.

Prates is coming off an absolutely devastating knockout of Geoff Neal that had people calling it a Knockout of the Year contender. The Brazilian brings serious finishing power and momentum into this Edwards matchup. Edwards finds himself in a tough spot right now with consecutive losses weighing on him. He dropped decisions to both Belal Muhammad and Sean Brady in his last two outings. A third straight loss would be catastrophic for his standing in the welterweight division. And Prates represents exactly the kind of dangerous opponent who could capitalize on any vulnerability Edwards shows.
