Warriors veteran Draymond Green opened up about the incident in which he shouted at teammate Buddy Hield during the game against the Phoenix Suns.
Draymond Green is no stranger to controversy. Whether it’s his infamous headlock on Rudy Gobert or his ankle grab against Domantas Sabonis, the Golden State Warriors forward has built a reputation for being one of the NBA’s most fiery personalities.
Green has always prided himself on playing with intensity and doing whatever it takes to win, even if it means crossing the line at times.
But on Saturday night, Green’s aggression was directed not at an opposing player, but at his own teammate, Buddy Hield. During the Warriors’ game against the Phoenix Suns, Green was caught on microphones shouting at Hield.
“Wake the f**k up, or go sit the f**k down.” The viral exchange quickly went viral on social media.

After the game, Green addressed the incident with reporters and defended his action. The 34-year-old said his outburst was not about disrespecting Hield, but about motivating him to rise to the occasion. Green explained that the Warriors need Hield to perform at a high level if they are to succeed, and as a leader, it’s his responsibility to push his teammates.
“Mics catch everything today. I don’t care. I’ll say it right into the mic”, Green said.

“I know what it looks like to win. I know what it takes to win. So, as a leader, it’s on you to figure out what it takes to help this team win. And if that’s mixing it up with a guy every now and then, that’s yelling, then you do that. But don’t be the guy that can’t be yelled at. And I’ll never be that guy.”
Microphones caught Draymond Green lighting into Buddy Hield tonight (“Wake the f*** up or go sit the f*** down”).

Hield, who had an impressive start to his Warriors career, was averaging 21.5 points per game in October. However, his performance has dipped in recent weeks. He struggled again on Saturday, finishing with zero points on 0-7 shooting.
Fortunately for Golden State, Jonathan Kuminga stepped up, scoring 34 points, tying his career-high to secure a 109-105 win over the Suns.
