Italian Set To Take Charge of Brazil National Team in May 2025 After Real Madrid Departure.

Carlo Ancelotti is officially set to become the next manager of the Brazil national team. The 65-year-old acclaimed Italian coach has now become the first foreign manager in Brazil national team’s history. However, that’s not the only record he has set. As per reports, he will also become one of the most paid coaches in Brazil’s history.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed through a social media post very recently that Ancelotti will take over on May 26, 2025. This will be the very next day after completing Real Madrid’s last La Liga match of the season. The decision marks a historic beginning for both the club and the coach as they eye success.

Record Deal Finalised Amid Real Madrid Exit

Ancelotti is still holding a contract with Real Madrid until June 2026. However, multiple reliable sources have reported that the Spanish giants are ready for his departure. According to acclaimed journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, club legend Xabi Alonso is set to take over from the FIFA Club World Cup.

Hence, for Ancelotti, his tenure as the Real Madrid coach is set to end with Madrid’s last game of the season on May 25. As he is set to begin his reign as the Brazil coach, he will do so breaking the bank for Brazil. As per Romano, “The Brazilian Federation are set to offer a record salary for the Italian coach as the best paid ever for the Selecao.”

The deal has reportedly been in the works for months now. However, Real Madrid’s recent results have accelerated talks of a managerial change in Madrid. Ancelotti’s Madrid have suffered a Champions League exit and a fourth straight Clasico loss to Barcelona this season. Xabi Alonso is tipped to succeed Ancelotti.

How Much Could Carlo Ancelotti Earn?

According to ESPN Brasil, Ancelotti will earn over €177,500 ($197,000) per week. He will accumulate a salary of around $850,000 per month or $10 million per year. That amount is double the salaries his predecessors – including Tite and Dorival Júnior – was getting during their tenure as the Brazil coach.

This financial commitment signals Brazil’s renewed ambition and faith in Ancelotti ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues said, “Bringing Carlo Ancelotti to lead Brazil is more than a strategic move. It’s a statement to the world that we are determined to regain the top spot on the podium.”

The CBF also credited Real Madrid and President Florentino Perez for facilitating a smooth transition. Brazil are currently sitting in fourth position in CONMEBOL’s World Cup qualifying rankings. Reportedly, Ancelotti will take charge ahead of Brazil’s June fixtures. He will only be tasked to qualify for the 2026 World Cup but also make history in the tournament next year.
