Hansi Flick Agrees New Deal Following Successful Debut Campaign; Official Announcement Imminent.
Barcelona are set to extend their contact with manager Hansi Flick after an exceptional debut season with the German coach. As per multiple reports, Flick has reached a verbal agreement with the club. Reportedly, he has agreed to all details presented to him and to continue till June 2027 as per his new contract.
Flick joined the Catalan giants in the wake of a rocky stint with the German national team. However, Barcelona were going through a shaky period of their own as well. Even though club legend Xavi tried his best at the helm, success seemed to elude them. The arrival of Flick at such a time didn’t only click, but sparked a new era.

It’s all done and set to be sealed this month with formal signature, but already approved with contract drafts.

Flick has led Barcelona to a near-flawless campaign in his debut season. He has already won both the Spanish Supercup and Copa del Rey with the club. Barcelona are also on the verge of winning the La Liga title. And for the first time in six years, he led La Blaugrana to their first Champions League semi-final.
The decisive moments in the extension talks came after Barcelona’s dramatic 4-3 victory over Real Madrid. Before this match, Los Blancos were trailing Barca by only four points in second place in the La Liga table. This win all but sealed the league title for the Catalan club.

As per Mundo Deportivo, Flick met with Joan Laporta, the club’s president, along with his agent Pini Zahavi at the famed Botafumeiro restaurant in Barcelona to finalize the deal. The acclaimed journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported, “Flick’s deal is ready and valid until June 2027.”
The agreement adds a single year to his already existing contract, which was initially set to expire in 2026. Even so, it still shows the faith he has gained in only his first season. There are no clauses for further extension at this stage, which aligns with Flick’s preference for short-term flexibility.
It seems despite the verbal agreement, Barcelona are holding off on an official announcement until the La Liga title is mathematically confirmed. That could happen as soon as Thursday, when Barca face Espanyol. A win in that match would crown Flick’s team as champions.

Additionally, a slip-up from Real Madrid against Mallorca in the same matchweek would also do the trick. The German tactician’s impact has been immediate and profound. Along with the trophies, Barcelona have won all four of their clashes against arch-rival Real Madrid this season. They’ve scored 16 goals against them in the process which has set a new record.
It has defined the club’s resurgence. His leadership has also sparked optimism among the fans about the club’s return to dominance both domestically and in Europe in the coming years. The formal announcement may be days away, but the message is already clear: this is just the beginning of Flick’s revolution at the club.
