Luka Doncic was in his red-hot form against the Nuggets.
Luka Doncic has been proving that the Lakers did right by acquiring him in the blockbuster trade earlier this year. After a few underwhelming games, the five-time NBA All-Star has been in red-hot form for the Lakers. Along with LeBron James by his side, he guided the Lakers as high as the No. 2 seed in the West.
Even when the Lakers are now without their ‘King’, he has been delivering exceptional performances. As the 21-time All-Star missed his sixth straight game due to the groin injury sustained late in the Celtics game, Luka took the charge. He led the Lakers to their third straight win, as they took down the Denver Nuggets 120-108. This was the Lakers’ ninth straight win at home, which is their longest streak since 2018.
The Lakers finished the first quarter with 46 points, their highest-scoring quarter. The Nuggets, who were without Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray for the second straight game ended, the first quarter at 29 points. The lead then extended to 73-59 by the end of the first half. At the end of the third quarter, the home favorites were leading their rivals 105-77.

An unstoppable Luka Doncic finished the first quarter with 21 points, three assists and two rebounds. He was shooting 7-of-11 from the field while 3-of-5 from the threes. As he recorded his first three-pointer, he became the fastest player in the Lakers’ franchise history to record 50+ 3PM.
Not only this, but he also became the youngest point guard in the history of the Lakers to record a 20-point quarter. Luka has been indomitable ever since he donned the Gold and Purple colors, and has been leading the side in points, three-points, rebounds, assists, steals, FGM.
At halftime, he had 25 points, three rebounds and four assists. He shot 8-of-14 from the field. With this, Luka recorded his 50th career 25-point half. By the end of the third quarter, the Slovenian had 31points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Luka added another feather in his cap as he recorded the 200th 30-plus point game of his career.
