Are Lewis Hamilton's days at Ferrari going off track?
Ferrari and its drivers have a very complex relationship together over the course of their career in the Maranello team. Often, Ferrari drivers find themselves at odds with the team. In the past few decades, the team has been the subject of criticism due to its strategy decisions and random mistakes. The advent of the 2025 season brought forth a new promise from the Ferrari team to its Tifosi.
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, spearheaded by team boss Fred Vasseur were the new rays of hope. The 2024 season saw Ferrari returning to its winning form and claiming second place in constructor’s championship. However, as soon as the 2025 Formula 1 season began, Ferrari suffered a huge performance drop.

The past six races for Ferrari are unfurling various issues for the team. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc are both unable to perform at their best. The team is also committing blunders in strategy from time to time. It is surprising that in a competitive season like 2025, Ferrari has only podium and zero pole positions.

Lewis Hamilton came to Ferrari in hopes of winning his record breaking eighth title. He found himself many supporters, including former F1 champion- Sebastian Vettel. The first race was disaster for the entire team. The second race was comparatively better for Hamilton in the Sprint but ended up becoming a worse experience after the race. As the season goes on, Lewis Hamilton is suffering more and more with his current team.
His radio interactions have not been calm. The pace he wants from his car in not at all deliverable by their current challenger. Furthermore, the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday was when he lost his cool. Hamilton did not hold back his disapproving words for the team throughout the latter stages of the race. Even though, Hamilton said it was in the heat of the moment, one can not help but think.

Lewis Hamilton has come from a very structured and strategically sound team. When he was in Mercedes, he was the first driver for the team and the priority was always his race. In Ferrari, Hamilton has to prove himself against their crown prince, Charles Leclerc. Lewis Hamilton was unable to perform at Mercedes only because of their issues. The team still gave him a spot on strategy for the races.
In comparison to that, the delays and disaster strategies at Ferrari might seem like torture to him. Hamilton has made it clear in his press conferences that, he doesn’t feel confident enough in his car. He is also urging the fans to not expect a lot from him in his current situation at the Maranello outfit.
I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university's Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
