Sengun averaged 19.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per contest in 2024-25.Â
Giannis Antetokounmpo has made headlines for the entire 2024-25 season. After recording a staggering average and making it to the list of MVP Finalists, there have been rumors that the Milwaukee Bucks superstar is contemplating a move from the franchise. Amid these talks, there are now reports that the Houston Rockets are willing to trade Alperen Sengun, if it means for them to get Giannis Antetokounmpo.
According to a report from Kurt Helin of NBC Sports, the Rockets are considering trading Alperen Sengun if it means that they could get the Greek Freak to sign a deal with them. Notably, the Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs have emerged as two of the frontrunners to sign the services of Antetokounmpo. Speaking of Sengun, the 22-year-old Turkish star averaged 19.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per contest.
The report further stated, “Jabari Smith Jr. is likely part of any deal, and the Rockets have a lot of future first-round picks — their own and others, such as Brooklyn and Phoenix picks — that could be part of the trade. It likely takes a third team to make the math work, but it’s very doable.”

It is to be noted that the Bucks recorded their worst regular season since 2020-21 with 48 wins. In the first round of the NBA playoffs 2025, they recorded a 4-1 loss to the Indiana Pacers. Following the loss, the reports that the 30-year-old is open to move from the team have been all over the place. Antetokounmpo, on the other hand, is in the prime of his career. The two-time MVP, the Greek Freak has made it to the All-Star team nine times in his career, as well as earned NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team selection.

While the internet is going gaga over the reports that the Greek Freak is likely to consider a move from the Milwaukee Bucks after this season, the latest report from an insider has added a fresh twist to it. As per Jim Owczarski, the 30-year-old is not only to be traded this summer. Not only this, but he also added a possibility that he might never be traded. He reported, “Giannis will not be traded this summer. The greater likelihood is, well, never.”
He added, “Second: These are the unsexy, aka realistic, conversations. He will require another supermax. So, yeah, the ACTUAL mechanics of this are very, very clunky for teams.”
Notably, Antetokounmpo is under contract with the fifth-seeded Eastern Conference team through 2026-27. He has a $62 million player option for 2027-28 and doesn’t have a no-trade clause.
