“I’m Not an Angry Black Man” – Draymond Green Defends Image, Accuses Media of Racial Bias in Ongoing Hate Campaign

Draymond Green calls out media for pushing a racist “angry Black man” narrative.

Draymond Green has fiercely responded to what he sees as a racially charged media narrative aimed at tarnishing his image. The Power forward suggested that he was subjected to a hate campaign because of his race. Racism is a sensitive topic not only in America but all over the world.

“I’m a very successful, educated Black man with a great family, and I’m great at basketball,” Green said. “To try to keep making me look like an angry Black man is crazy.”

It is no lie that the Golden State Warriors star constantly ruffles some feathers, which is why he receives flake. Despite his passion for the game, Green is frequently on the receiving end of harsh fan and media criticism, something he believes is deeply racial.

Draymond Green has this inclination of getting carried away with emotions and engaging in serious banter. However, many times in the lenses of fans and media, Green went too far making reckless plays. He also has a reputation among the referees due to which he constantly gets technical fouls and ejections as well.

However, most of it remains on-court, and to brand a player as angry and villainous even outside the court is a far-fetched effort. Fans have made unruly chants towards Green even in the presence of his family, however, the power forward has taken it like a sport. His off court interactions have also been nothing like the media portrays him.

Critics Louder As Game Slows Down

The Golden State Warriors star has always been a passionate player on the court. His banter with other players date back to his debut season in the NBA. However, over the years, Draymond Green backed his talk with action. He constantly talked and with it also produced some good basketball for his team.

However, this season especially, Green has continued his talk, but couldn’t back it with action on the court. His defensive and offensive vulnerabilities were exposed in the recent series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Julius Randle, Rudy Gobert and Anthony Edwards managed to ramp through the Warriors defense.

It is maybe time for Draymond Green to start focusing more on the basketball side of things. If Green returns to form, the noise may soon flip into applause, a cycle as old as sports itself. The same is the nature of the NBA and the world as well. The Warriors’ defender can only silence his critics by his performances.
