The Golden State Warriors’ fairytale season met a harsh reality given their defeat against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Anthony Edwards led side took full advantage of Warriors’ offensive and defensive woes and struck a dominating 4-1 win in the NBA semi-finals series.

The Steph Curry-less Warriors struggled to take the game to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Their first game was an offensive and defensive display. However, with Curry’s injury, the difference of quality became huge. Defense dropped below par and offense was nowhere to be seen.

Despite Jimmy Butler’s presence, the Warriors couldn’t even win a single game. However, the problem wasn’t Butler but the roster. It is only so much can one player do for the side if the other players don’t help. Draymond Green, who was in the contention for the Defensive Player of the Year just couldn’t stop Anthony Edwards and his offense.

Steph Curry said “everything was aligned” for his Game 6 return. Just needed to clear some final testing.

Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert created all sorts of problems for the Warriors’ defense. Moreover, the lack of scoring options given Gary Payton II, Buddy Hield and Brandon Podzemski were all missing constantly throughout the series. Their form this season as a whole hasn’t been pleasing as well. It is clear that the Warriors need major changes.

Shams Reveals Warriors’ Rebuild Blueprint

ESPN Journalist Shams Charania has given a major update on the Golden State Warriors’ offseason trade strategy. As expected, the seven time NBA champions are eagerly looking to add a Centre. Steve Kerr and the Big 3 (Draymond Green, Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler) will play a major role in the incoming process.

A big defender is what the Warriors have been missing for the longest time. Most of their players are short on the court and are easily taken advantage from the big teams. Adding a physically imposing defender will not only add a protective layer to the rim but also add another scoring threat.

Shams also suggested that one player to look forward is Jonathan Kuminga. The youngster could leave the Warriors after falling out of favor with Steve Kerr. A sign and trade could also allow the Warriors to pursue a big Center and also a play making winger to complement their scoring.
