Charles Barkley fired back at Draymond Green's statement, criticizing his generation for ruining the All-Star game.
The NBA’s new format of four-teams in a mini-tournament has received heavy backlash on it’s debut at the 2025 NBA All-Star game. Many fans have termed it as “one of the worst All-Star game of all-time“. The Golden State Warriors Star, Draymond Green also heavily criticized the new format in a TNT broadcast.
The Warriors’ veteran, who joined the TNT panel as guest, was asked to give ratings to the new format, and the 34-year-old didn’t hesitate to give it a “zero” rating on a scale of 1-10.
“You work all year to be an All-Star and you get to play up to 40, and then you’re done. This is so unfair to Victor Wembanyama, who just took this game really seriously [and] Shai Gilgeous-Alexander”, Green said.
Green claimed that the new format “sucks” as it isn’t basketball.
“It sucks. This ain’t basketball.”
However, Charles Barkley, who led Team Chuck’s Global Stars, didn’t agree with the Warriors star’s comments. The NBA Hall of Famer blamed Green’s generation for ruining the All-Star game. He further said that multiple formats being implemented are because of the failure of this generation to make this game exciting.
“I’m going to disagree with Draymond LOT…They messed the game up. His generation messed the game up.. We’re doing every type of trick to make this weekend exciting.”
