Season Recap 2024

Haas decided to let go of their team principal, Guenther Steiner for the 2024 season. The move was incredibly successful for the team as they were able to improve their position in the constructor standings immediately. The team recorded their best finish in Formula 1 since 2018. Haas finished seventh in the championship and was no longer the worst team on the grid.

The duo of Hulkenberg and Magnussen managed to claim many points finishes throughout the season. However, Kevin Magnussen couldn’t help himself from falling prey to penalty points throughout the season. Nevertheless, Haas has managed to move in a positive direction for the 2024 season and would be looking forward to a better season in 2025.

History

Haas Formula 1 team was the first American team to compete in Formula 1 in 2016. With the backing of Gene Haas and a close partnership with Ferrari, Haas managed to present a low-cost model for smaller constructors. Haas’s technical allegiance to Ferrari has been under fire ever since the team entered Formula 1. They have heavily depended on Ferrari for the engines, technical assets and even reserve drivers.

Haas’s presence as a satellite has introduced many questions to its existence. It has remained particularly uncompetitive for the majority of its career in Formula 1. In 2024, Haas was sued by their Russian sponsor, Uralkali for $9 million. They have formed a new alliance with Toyota Gazoo Racing in 2024, even though they are still using Ferrari’s engines.

Predictions for 2025

Haas will be refreshing their driver lineup in 2025. They brought in a rookie driver for the first time since 2025. Yet again, they found solace in bringing a reserve driver from Ferrari in the form of Oliver Bearman. The 2025 season might prove to be a turning point for Haas after they won’t be the sole American team in 2026. Bearman was able to secure points finish when he debuted with Haas and it would be important for the team to utilise his talents effectively. Haas needs to carefully evaluate him as a rookie if they don’t want to make another Mick Schumacher. They have the experience of a race winning driver in the form of Esteban Ocon and would want to make him the lead driver for the season so that Bearman can learn from him. Haas will be aching to secure as many points as they can with an impressive driver lineup and the success in the previous season.

Esteban Ocon

NameEsteban José Jean-Pierre Ocon-Khelfane
BirthplaceÉvreux, Eure, France
Birthdate17 September 1996

Esteban Ocon was a part of the French dream team for Alpine in 2024. However, he could not sustain in the environment and ended up clashing with his compatriot. Even though Esteban Ocon was able to make up to the team and Gasly with the famed double-podium finish, it was not enough for Alpine and he was set to leave. Ocon will be joining Haas in 2025. He may not have to face the wrath of Guenther Steiner but he will have to give his best shot at leading a team which has the experience of being a pointless backmarker for majority of the season. Ocon will have to help the team gain momentum after their success in 2024 and will have to train the rookie Bearman (without ending up with a five-place grid penalty). Ocon is a race winning driver and has multiple podiums in the sport. He should be able to guide Haas in a positive direction as their number one driver.

Oliver Bearman

NameOliver James Bearman
BirthplaceHavering, London, England
Birthdate8 May 2005

Oliver Bearman made his breakthrough as a Formula 1 driver for the 2025 season. He was able to reel in the entire paddock with his performance in the 2024 season. Bearman’s 2024 season saw him racing for two different teams and claim points finishes for both teams. He is going to be among the most anticipated and famous rookies of the 2025 season. Even though Bearman is a reserve driver for Ferrari, he will have to prove his mettle before he can think of replacing either Leclerc or Hamilton at Ferrari. Nevertheless, having raced with Haas in 2024 and bringing in some crucial points for them, Bearman should be ready for the 2025 season. Although his teammate has had a less than jovial relationship with other drivers and teammates, Bearman will have to accept his role as a second driver if he wants to establish himself as a consistent driver in the sport.
