Gunther Punished heavily for attacking Pat McAfee and Michael Cole

Wrestlers have crossed a line and attacked the commentators in WWE many times before. Such an incident occurred on Raw after WrestleMania when Gunther attacked Michael Cole and Pat McAfee. Michael Cole has been on the receiving end of the assault many times before, but this was the first time Pat McAfee was attacked in WWE. Michael Cole is known to use harsh words and be critical while doing his job.

Michael Cole condemned Gunther for attacking Jimmy Uso in front of his brother. Jey Uso’s victory over Gunther at WrestleMania, which crowned him the World Heavyweight Champion, only intensified Cole’s criticism. Cole’s comments provoked Gunther, who then entered the arena to confront him. In the confrontation, Gunther pushed Pat McAfee.

Gunther then put Michael Cole in a sleeper hold, but when Pat McAfee rushed to Cole’s aid, Gunther turned and put McAfee in a sleeper hold as well, refusing to let go. Pat McAfee was rushed backstage and was given medical aid. Adam Pearce asked Michael Cole to stay with McAfee, and Joe Tessitore would commentate on his behalf. Cole refused to leave his job in between and joined Joe for the remainder of the night.

What Punishment did Gunther receive for attacking Pat McAfee?

Adam Pearce announced that Gunther has been fined a hefty undisclosed amount and suspended from WWE indefinitely. The punishment came to save the announcers from the assault of wrestlers. Michael Cole previously asked Adam Pearce how they are going to do their jobs freely if a wrestler attacks them for their opinion. This will only provoke other wrestlers to follow in the footsteps of Gunther if he isn’t punished.

Adam Pearce announced that Pat McAfee and Michael Cole are okay. He told via his X handle that Pat was at the Green Bay Packers covering the NFL draft. He told Gunther that his actions were reprehensible and disgusting and warned him against putting his hands on the announcer’s team. He asked him to stop blaming everybody and instead question himself for the loss against Jey Uso at WrestleMania, and then announced his punishment.
