Serie A giants Juventus have suffered a major setback with defender Gleison Bremer picking up another knee injury just weeks after returning from a long-term layoff. The Brazilian centre-back was forced off against Atalanta due to discomfort in his left knee. Notably, Gleison Bremer experienced pain in the same knee that he underwent surgery for an ACL injury last October.
Initial assessments showed damage to the medial meniscus. In a social media post, Juventus confirmed that Bremer will undergo keyhole surgery to repair the issue. Bremer had only recently regained full fitness after a ten-month absence and was slowly re-establishing himself as a cornerstone of Igor Tudor’s defense.
Juventus released a statement which read, “This morning in Lyon, Gleison Bremer underwent a medical consultation with Dr. Sonnery-Cottet, who diagnosed him with a torn medial meniscus in his left knee. In the next few hours the player will undergo selective arthroscopic meniscectomy.“

Gleison Bremer started four Serie A matches this season and played really well. However, he missed Juventus’ last three fixtures against Verona, Villarreal, and Milan due to recurring soreness. The club’s medical team has now opted for a minor surgical procedure to ensure a complete recovery. According to reports, Bremer is expected to be out until after the next international break.
As a result, he will definitely miss Juventus’ upcoming league games against Como and Napoli, as well as their Champions League clash with Real Madrid. The injury comes at a crucial time for the Bianconeri, who are looking to rebuild consistency under Tudor after a turbulent campaign marked by injuries and defensive instability.

While the timeline for Bremer’s return will depend on how his knee responds post-surgery, early signs suggest a 4–5 week recovery window. Juventus fans will be hoping their defensive rock returns soon – fit and ready to anchor their backline for the remainder of the season.
