Milwaukee Bucks finally opened their winning account in the first-round series of the NBA Playoffs 2025. The Bucks took down the Indiana Pacers 117-101 in Game 3 of the series to take the tally 2-1. While it was an overall team contribution, the night truly belonged to Gary Trent Jr. who dropped a playoff career high score of 37 points and three rebounds. Trent tied his score with Giannis Antetokounmpo, who came up with 37 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists, and helped the fifth seeds avoid a 3-0 hole.

Trent made most of his rare starting opportunity and 11-16 from the field and 9-of-12 from threes. His threes are tied for the fourth-most in a playoff game in NBA history, and the most in the franchise. The 26-year-old tied Ray Allen’s franchise record for most threes in a single playoff game which he created in 2001.

Trent created another historical record with Greek Freak. It was for the first time in the history of the franchise and 16th time in the history of the league that a duo came up with 37+ points in one playoff game.

“It’s Really a Blessing”- Gary Trent Jr. Reacts to Tying Franchise Record With Ray Allen

Following the game, Gary Trent Jr. reflected on his performance, opening up on how it was like to tie franchise record with Hall of Famer Ray Allen. The veteran guard expressed his gratitude for the same, and said that to be able to match someone who he has watched growing up is an honor.

In the post-game media conference, Trent said, “It’s really a blessing—a testament to my hard work and everything I put into it every day.”

He added, “I was a big fan of Ray Allen as a kid. I watched him accomplish great things as a Buck and as a Celtic, just following his whole career and the way he shot the basketball. To be in that group, around him or near him as a shooter, is a great honor. It’s a blessing. It’s a testament to keep going.”

Not only this, but Trent also revealed the mindset he had when starting the game. The Apple Valley-born said, “My mindset was just come in and get a win. Obviously, we know what it means if we would have lost this game. Every day, every game, come in and make an impact on both ends.”

Trent, who averaged 11.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists this season, would want to continue his brilliant shooting prowess to guide the team to a series win and advance to the Eastern Conference semis.
