Is Ja Morant Playing Tonight? Update on Grizzlies Superstar’s Availability for Game 4 vs. OKC Thunder

Garima Ranawat

Doubts loom over Ja Morant's availability in Game 4 of Thunder-Grizzlies playoff series.

The Memphis Grizzlies had almost recorded their first NBA Playoffs 2025 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, the Shai Gilgeous-Alexander-led side pulled off a classic comeback to hand over a 114-108 defeat to take a 3-0 lead in the first-round playoff series. While the Thunder are heavy favorites to advance to the next round, the Grizzlies put on a brilliant show and dominated most of the Game 3.

Had they not lost Ja Morant to a left hip injury, the Grizzlies would have possibly won the fixture. Morant went down on the court after a hard fall with just over three minutes remaining in the first half and was ruled out of the remainder of the game early in the second half. The Thunder capitalized on his absence and overcame the 29-point deficit.

Before leaving, Morant dropped 15 points, one rebound, and five assists. Following the game, their interim coach Tuomas Iisalo shared that Morant would undergo further evaluation and the decision on his availability in Game 4 would be taken after it.

Will Ja Morant Play Tonight?

Earlier, there were reports that Morant would suit up for Game 4 of the first-round series, scheduled on Saturday, April 26. However, Iisalo declined to confirm the same. He said that the point guard was being examined and didn’t provide any clarity on his tests and evaluation. He also added that the two-time NBA All-Star missed Friday’s practice session.

However, per the official injury report, the 25-year-old is listed doubtful for Grizzlies’ must-win game. In addition to it, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Morant will be out of action for the forthcoming game.

Notably, he missed 32 games during the regular season with multiple injuries and ailments. In Game 2 of the series, Morant scored 23 points, and recorded 17 points in the series opener.
