Galatasaray are intensifying their pursuit of Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson, with the Turkish champions aiming to conclude the transfer within the week. Manager Okan Buruk has made the Brazilian his top target to strengthen the squad after the departure of long-serving club legend Fernando Muslera.

To accelerate talks, Buruk personally reached out to Ederson via a video call, with assistance from former teammate and Galatasaray icon Claudio Taffarel. Additionally, Felipe Melo, another ex-Galatasaray player and compatriot of Ederson, has been actively encouraging the move by sharing his positive experiences in Istanbul and outlining the club’s ambitions for the coming years.
Financially, Galatasaray are working hard to meet Ederson’s demands. The club have proposed an annual salary of €6 million, while the goalkeeper is believed to be seeking closer to €7.5 million. On the transfer fee side, a budget of around €10 million has been earmarked, although Manchester City are reportedly holding out for €12–13 million. Negotiations are ongoing, with the Istanbul side hoping to drive the fee down.
Muslera himself is understood to have endorsed the pursuit of Ederson after a private discussion with Buruk. The veteran goalkeeper, who enjoyed a remarkable spell at the club, reportedly agreed that Ederson would be the ideal successor given his proven pedigree in the Premier League and Champions League.
Behind the scenes, Galatasaray’s management are adopting a strategic approach to the deal. Former club official Levent Nazifoğlu has indicated that the transfer could be completed by the end of the month, leveraging the fact that the English transfer window closes earlier than Turkey’s. This timing could pressure Manchester City into agreeing a fee should they wish to finalise their own squad plans before the deadline.
Galatasaray remain optimistic that their determined efforts will pay off. Securing Ederson would not only fill the void left by Muslera but also significantly strengthen the team’s chances in both the Süper Lig and European competitions. With negotiations described as intense, the coming days could be decisive in determining whether the Brazilian goalkeeper will be lining up in yellow and red next season.
