WWE Smackdown Results Dec. 20, 2024: 5 Key Takeaways As New Major Storyline Revealed

Drew McIntyre to go after Solo SIkoa once his rivarly with The OTC is over.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown episode kicked in at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. Today’s SmackDown hosted four matches and a few promos. Solo vowed that he would beat The OTC and keep the Ulafala by winning their tribal combat match. Naomi replaced the injured Jade Cargill to defend the Tag Team title with Bianca Belair.

Motor City Machin Gun continued their feud with the DIY and the Greyson Waller Effect hosted the Monster Amongst Men. Jimmy Uso attacked Drew McIntyre with a crutch. Kevin Owens didn’t take responsibility for what happened at Saturday Night Main Event but he warned “What happens next is on all of you”.

Drew McIntyre vs. Solo Sikoa to be the new major storyline

The Friday Night Smackdown started with the Bloodline 2.0 standing in the ring. The crowd interrupted Solo’s attempt to speak with “what” chants. They interrupted Solo’s while he kept rambling about him. Bloodline 2.0 promo was interrupted by Drew McIntyre.

Drew was in a dilemma about whether to go to war with Solo or not. Drew reminded Solo that they have unfinished business. Solo was the one who cost him the World title at Clash of the Castle 2022. Drew also stated that he was the only one who stood against Roman Reigns.

Drew asked Solo to finish his business with The OTC so that they could finish their business. WWE to start a new rivalry between Solo and Drew McIntyre after the former battle it out against OTC at WWE RAW’s Netflix Premiere.

The Bloodline 2.0 vs LA Knight, Apollo Crews, and Andrade

LA Knight, Apollo Crews, and Andrade resumed that rivalry with the Bloodline after they were brutally attacked by the Bloodline 2.0. It was a three-man tag team championship match. The brutal brawl between the two teams erupted with no team backing off.

Shinsuke Nakamura attacked LA Knight outside the ring. A Kinshasa sent the Megastar over the announce table. Solo dropped Crews inside the ring with a Spinning Solo followed by a Samoan Spike to win the match. WWE kept LA Knight and Shinsuke Nakamura’s rivalry alive.

Naomi is to defend the tag team titles with Bianca Belair in the absence of injured Jade Cargill

Nick Aldis asked Bianca to give up the title in the last episode of SmackDown as she didn’t have a tag team partner. Naomi asked Nick if she could defend the title with The EST, which he allowed. They had to defend their titles against Nia Jax and Candice LeRae

The “Irresistible Force” Nia advised Miss MITB Tiffany to stay backstage during their match. The Women’s Tag Team match started with the dominance of Poison Pixie and Nia Jax. They isolated Bianca and dominated her most part of the match until she tagged Naomi.

Naomi showed her agility and in-ring awareness and a slight distraction from Miss Money in the Bank Tiffany was enough for Naomi to pin LeRae. A new storyline between Nia Jax and Tiffany has started. Would Tiffany cash in her MITB briefcase against her? We will find out soon.

Carmelo Hayes defeated Brawn Strowman

Braun Strowman entered the ring to be a guest at the Greyson Waller Effect. The hosts were making fun of ‘The Monster Amongst Men’ when ‘Melo’ interrupted and asked for a rematch. He attacked Braun before the match started and tried to keep him off his feet.

Both of them squared off outside the ring where Carmelo Hayes mocked Strowman’s walking. He ran headfirst into the big boot of The Monster. A slap from Melo infuriated Braun who lost the track of referee’s count and tossed Melo inside the ring.

Braun Strowman was outside the ring while the toss sent Melo inside on the ten count. Carmelo Hayes scored a win over Strowman by count-out.

Johnny Gargano defeated Alex Shelley

Alex Shelley’s attempt for a top rope to lower the boom on Johnny Gargano was interrupted by Tomasso Ciampa when he hopped onto the apron. He bought some time for his DIY partner. Chris Sabin neutralized the threat of Ciampa outside the ring.

The distraction was enough for Johnny Gargano to keep Shelley’s momentum from performing flying crossbody. He got Shelley’s shoulder down on the apron with a handful of tights and won the match.
