As the International break commences, France will head into the quarterfinal of UEFA Nations League 2025. Facing Croatia, the Frenchmen will be hoping to avenge their knockout from from the tournament last time out.

France Manager Didier Deschamps and his men has had a dominating campaign this year. After losing only one game of the six and securing 13 points, France topped the Group 2 of the league to go to the knockouts.

With the tournament reaching its crucial stages, France will rely on their depth, experience, and tactical prowess to edge closer to a second Nations League title.

The contest between France and Croatia has given some end-to-end action over the years. The last time these two sides met, Croatia got the better of Deschamps’s squad by 1-0 in 2022. However, it is the only win that Croatia has managed over France in past eight meetings.

In the most recent interviews, Kylian Mbappe who retained the captaincy has addressed the rumours of dispute between him and Deschamps. Mbappe who requested a drop from squad selection in September, was still called by Deschamps.

Talking on the subject he said: “If there was a rift, I wouldn’t have answered his calls. Everyone knows me – if there is a rift with someone, I don’t stay in contact. I don’t know how to pretend. That doesn’t mean that, in a relationship, there are never disagreements. Even if I don’t want any, there are still some,”

“I have my education – I always had respect and gratitude for the manager and I will never lose that respect. He has been my only manager with the France team. These aren’t secrets but disagreements that people don’t need to know about.”

Deschamps will be keen to see his star man back with the armband. France who chase their second Nations League title goes in as one of the favourites to win the competition along with Spain and Portugal.
