Danish Midfielder Set To Leave Manchester United at the End of the 2024/25 Season!

Abhinav Goel

With Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim leading a squad overhaul, the midfielder has made up his mind about his next move.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Manchester United are bracing for a high-profile departure, with one of their most experienced midfielders expected to leave the club at the end of this season. Manchester United currently sit 13th in the Premier League, with their Europa League campaign being their last hope of securing a European spot for next season. The midfielder has been an integral part of United’s squad over the past few seasons. However, with manager Ruben Amorim leading a squad overhaul, the midfielder has made up his mind about his next move.

The player in question is Christian Eriksen. The 33-year-old Danish midfielder is set to leave Manchester United at the end of the season. With his contract running until June 2025 and no extension talks on the horizon, Christian Eriksen revealed that he expects to leave Manchester United this summer.

Eriksen’s contract expires in the summer and he said there have not been any discussions over a new deal.

I haven’t heard anything from the club, and therefore I assume that the collaboration will stop – that’s how I interpret it,” said the Dane. “I am prepared to find something new. I am fine with that. Where it will be, I haven’t decided yet.”

After starting his career at Ajax, Eriksen spent seven years at Tottenham before moving to Inter Milan.

Spurs had been interested in bringing Eriksen back to the club but the midfielder joined Manchester United.

The intention is not to stay in England,” added Eriksen.

“I am not going to the USA – we are not going that far. We would like to stay in Europe, but it is too early to go home to Denmark.

“I feel like I have some good years abroad left.”

Christian Eriksen’s Journey at Manchester United

Christian Eriksen arrived at Manchester United in 2022, signing on a free transfer from Brentford. His arrival brought creativity and experience to Erik ten Hag’s midfield, making him a key player in his first season at Old Trafford.

Since joining the club, Eriksen has featured in 99 matches across all competitions, contributing 7 goals and 14 assists. His impact was particularly notable during the 2022-23 season, where he played a vital role in United’s third-place finish in the Premier League and helped them win the Carabao Cup, securing the club’s first piece of silverware in six years.

However, injuries and managerial changes have significantly reduced his playing time. Since December 2023, Eriksen has largely been used as a substitute, struggling to regain a regular starting spot. Recently, he has returned to the first XI, starting United’s last two Premier League games.
