Cunha, Marmoush and Bowen Lead Major FPL Position Reclassifications Ahead of New Season

Fantasy Premier League managers will have fresh dilemmas heading into the 2025/26 season, as several high-profile players have undergone positional reclassifications — with Manchester United’s new signing Matheus Cunha among the biggest talking points.

Cunha, who arrived from Wolves this summer, has been reclassified from a forward to a midfielder. Expected to slot in as a No.10 in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system, the Brazilian could become a direct Fantasy rival to Bruno Fernandes. After recording a career-best 178 points last season — with 15 goals and eight assists — Cunha’s repositioning boosts his FPL appeal, especially if he inherits a share of set-piece duties.

Marmoush Becomes FPL Midfielder After Dynamic Role Under Guardiola

Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush is another notable name shifting from forward to midfielder. The Egyptian international, who joined midway through last season, played predominantly as an attacking midfielder and was pivotal to City’s attacking output post-Gameweek 23.

Bowen Now a Forward, Salah Breaks Midfielder Price Record

Jarrod Bowen has moved in the opposite direction, switching from a midfielder to a forward following his more advanced role under Graham Potter at West Ham. Deployed as a striker in a 3-5-2, Bowen racked up 103 points from Gameweek 20 onwards — the fourth-highest total in the game during that period — scoring eight and assisting five.
