McLaren are the defending constructor champions in the 2025 F1 season. There is no doubt that McLaren are dominating the 2025 season compared to their other rivals. For a team which was struggling to gain points in the mid-field in 2022 and 2023, McLaren came a long way this year. The team from Woking made significant improvements in the previous year. As a result, they are setting the benchmark for 2025 teams. Almost every weekend, McLaren ends up as the fastest car. The other teams can’t find a viable solution to their pace.

Season Recap- McLaren F1

McLaren won the opening round of the 2025 championship. Lando Norris led the team to a great victory starting from pole position. They faced a slight disadvantage after Piastri’s spinout in the Australian Grand Prix, however, the team made up for it in the upcoming weekends. Oscar Piastri starting from a disadvantage in the 2025 set out to absolute rule the competition.

Piastri won races defiantly outclassing his teammate. He was winning spree until Monaco Grand Prix. As a result, McLaren F1 are currently racing with a major advantage in both championships. Piastri and Norris had two chaotic moments in the first half of the season.

The duo collided at the Canadian Grand Prix, leading to Norris’s retirement from the race. Piastri and Norris also had a tense situation at the British Grand Prix. The Aussie wanted to reclaim the lead of the race with team orders against Lando Norris. There are hints of tension but the two drivers have been mature rivals so far.

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are in a league of their own this season. The two Papaya drivers do not shy away from duking it out on track. There are numerous moments between the McLaren duo which exhibit their respect and competitiveness. Oscar Piastri was initially up-to a flying start in the drivers championship.

Lando Norris had to go through a tough phase of criticism and self-confidence issues before making his comeback in the championship. The Monaco Grand Prix marked the return of Lando Norris. Since then, he has been racing on equal footing against Oscar Piastri. As of July 2025, Piastri has a slight edge over Norris.

The team has decided to not interfere between the two by implementing strict no-bias attitude. The team intends on letting the title battle play out between their drivers.

Key Predictions and Challenges for the Second Half of 2025 Season

McLaren F1 had a very strong start to 2025. However, lately the team has been losing pace. Their best weapon against the rivals is better tyre management. However, for the past few weekends, the team has been less dominant compared to their rivals. Often, the two Papaya cars end up missing a front-row lockout.

Lando Norris has to become more consistent. One weekend, he is exuding perfection in races and next weekend, he is severely lagging behind. It hurts his chances in the championship and also ruins his credibility to keep up the fight compared to Oscar. Piastri on the other hand had a rare show of emotion previous weekend. He needs to hold back from driving recklessly, like he did in Britain, Piastri’s calm demeanour is his best talent in the 2025 grid.

McLaren should easily win the 2025 constructor’s championship. As far as the drivers championship is concerned, the team has the best chances for winning the title. However, in case everything goes south for McLaren, their drivers should at least claim the top-3 positions.
